2026 Geely EX5: Enhanced Performance with Larger Battery in Mid-size Electric SUV

Geely has announced updates to its mid-size electric SUV, the Geely EX5, for the year 2026. The vehicle now comes with a larger 68.39kWh battery, which extends the claimed WLTP electric driving range by up to 45km. However, these improvements come at a cost, with the starting price of the EX5 now set at $41,990 before on-road costs – an increase of $1000 from the previous model.

The top-spec Inspire variant of the Geely EX5 has also seen a $1000 price hike. In addition to the extended range, the EX5 now comes standard with a cargo blind and a Mode 2 charging cable. A new exterior color option, Jungle Green, is also available for those looking to add a splash of color to their vehicle.

The Geely EX5 made its debut in Australia in March 2025 and quickly gained popularity, with 3944 deliveries in the same year. The model was later joined by another mid-size SUV, the Starray PHEV, in local Geely showrooms.

In terms of drivetrains and efficiency, the EX5 continues to offer a single electric motor setup with a 160kW unit driving the front wheels. The battery capacity has been upgraded to 68.39kWh, resulting in an increase in range for both the Complete and Inspire variants. However, the 0-100km/h times have slightly increased with this upgrade.

The safety features of the Geely EX5 include a five-star rating from ANCAP, with standard equipment such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and more. The Inspire variant comes with additional front parking sensors for added safety.

In terms of colors, the EX5 is available in six exterior colors, with Arctic White being the standard option. Buyers can choose from additional colors like Shadow Black, Volcanic Grey, Moonlit Silver, Aquatic Green, and the newly introduced Jungle Green. The interior color options include black (Midnight) for both variants and white (Cloud) for the Inspire model.
