The BMW ALPINA XB7, the first ALPINA model produced outside of Buchloe, is reaching the end of its production cycle. BMW is preparing to wrap up the XB7’s legacy with a bang, introducing the Manufaktur special edition that comes fully equipped with exclusive matte colors: Frozen ALPINA Green and Frozen ALPINA Blue.
BMWBLOG had the opportunity to capture the striking green XB7 prototype at the Amelia Concours 2026 event. While the 120 customer vehicles will mirror this design, the availability of the XB7 will be limited to the United States and Canada, with all features included as standard at a price of $181,550.
Although the XB7 is bidding adieu for now, it is set to make a comeback later in the decade, potentially under a different name. The upcoming BMW ALPINA lineup is expected to expand with new models, including a six-cylinder variant and a pure electric vehicle. The second-generation XB7 will be manufactured in Spartanburg, with potential modifications to differentiate it from its predecessor.
The outgoing XB7, internally identified as the “G07,” will see a transformation in the next generation. BMW’s rendition will adopt the “G67” codename, while ALPINA’s version will be known as “G69,” hinting at potential distinctions and premium enhancements.
Despite enthusiasts’ hopes for a V12 engine in the new XB7, it is unlikely to materialize due to regulatory constraints. The ALPINA-fettled 7 Series is also improbable to feature a twelve-cylinder powertrain. If you desire the current XB7 model, the Manufaktur production will start in September, with deliveries scheduled for Q4 2026.
Anticipated features in the successor XB7 model include a V8 engine for the 60 xDrive variant, standard soft-close doors, optional automatic doors akin to the 7 Series, and a rear-seat entertainment system. The third row may be omitted to enhance legroom and ambiance, resembling the luxurious 7 Series.
The second-generation BMW X7 is projected to commence production in September 2027, potentially delaying the debut of the upscale variant until 2028.
