Google Lyria 3 Pro makes three-minute-long AI songs

Google Enhances Lyria 3 Music AI Capabilities

Google has announced the expansion of Lyria 3, its music-making AI tool. This update allows Lyria to produce tracks that are up to three minutes long, a significant increase from its previous limit of 30-second clips. Moreover, Lyria 3 Pro enables users to request specific elements like intros, choruses, and bridges, providing greater control over the music arrangement.

Lyria 3 Pro functions similarly to other popular music generation tools like Suno and Udio. Users can describe a mood, style, or instrumentation, and Lyria will generate a track accordingly. Additionally, it has the capability to create lyrics based on prompts or even reference photos or videos.

A notable feature of Lyria 3 Pro is its integration with various Google products. Users can now create tracks directly from Gemini, eliminating the need for a separate application. Furthermore, Lyria 3 Pro will be available on Vertex AI for enterprise customers, Google AI Studio and Gemini API for developers, Google Vids for office workers, and the recently acquired ProducerAI platform. This extended functionality will be particularly beneficial for ProducerAI users, positioning it as a direct competitor to Suno.

The ability to generate complete songs rather than short clips raises concerns regarding impersonation and copyright issues. Google has addressed these concerns by stating that Lyria 3 and Gemini do not mimic specific artists. If a prompt mentions an artist, the AI model takes it as broad inspiration. Additionally, Google confirms that Lyria 3 Pro’s outputs are checked against existing content to prevent any copyright infringement. Each AI-generated track also contains a silent SynthID watermark for identification purposes.
