Apple has officially launched iOS 26.4 to the public, marking the beginning of the iOS 26.5 beta phase with the release of the first developer beta. However, the initial beta version does not include any new Siri features, indicating that the much-anticipated updates may be delayed until the release of iOS 27.

Reports suggest that Apple had initially planned to introduce new Siri features in iOS 26.4, but due to development and testing challenges, the deadline was missed. While progress has been made since last year, issues with Siri’s processing and response times have led to delays in implementing the promised improvements. As a result, it is likely that the new features will be postponed until iOS 26.5 or iOS 27.

Internal testing of the new Siri features for iOS 26.5 was reportedly underway when Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared insights on the updates. Despite assurances from Apple employees that the features showcased at the 2024 WWDC would be included, the beta release did not reflect these enhancements.

With the upcoming unveiling of iOS 27 at WWDC 2026, it appears increasingly probable that users will have to wait until the new operating system is launched to experience the full extent of the promised Siri upgrades.

Recent reports suggest that Apple may introduce a standalone Siri chatbot app in iOS 27, offering a more advanced version of Siri capable of competing with ChatGPT and Gemini. The app, codenamed “Campo,” is designed to provide a chatbot experience similar to Apple’s Messages app, allowing users to interact with Siri through text and voice commands, as well as upload documents and photos for analysis.

Apple’s development of “Siri 2.0” is reportedly progressing well, thanks in part to a partnership with Google on the Gemini project. While there is a possibility of seeing some of the new features in iOS 26.5 or iOS 26.6, the full extent of the enhancements is likely to be unveiled in iOS 27 later this year.

Despite initial plans to introduce the new Siri features alongside an iOS 18 update in 2025, Apple acknowledged delays in the development process, pushing the full functionality to 2026. While reports hinted at a potential release in iOS 26.4, Apple has remained vague about specific updates, only committing to a launch before the end of 2026.

In conclusion, while the exact timing of the new Siri features remains uncertain, users can expect significant enhancements to Apple’s voice assistant in the near future, possibly with the release of iOS 27.
