Retired Gen. Keith Alexander Leaves Amazon Board After Five Years
Renowned four-star Army general and former NSA director, Keith Alexander, is bidding farewell to Amazon’s board of directors after over five years of service.
The 74-year-old Alexander informed Amazon of his decision not to seek re-election at the upcoming annual meeting, as per the company’s proxy statement.
Amazon expressed gratitude for Alexander’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors.
No specific reason was disclosed for his departure, bringing the board’s total members to 11 post his exit.
Alexander joined Amazon’s board in 2020, overseeing cybersecurity policies and response to cyber incidents.
Having led U.S. Cyber Command and the NSA during the Snowden disclosures, Alexander later founded IronNet, a cybersecurity firm.
With 11 board members up for re-election, Amazon’s annual shareholder meeting is set for May 20.
