2026 Renault Twingo: A Quick Spin Review
The Renault Twingo has a rich history, originally debuting in the early 1990s and quickly becoming a cultural icon, much like the Citroen 2CV before it. Over the years, the Twingo has evolved, becoming larger and more expensive. Now, Renault has introduced an all-new Twingo with retro looks reminiscent of its ancestor but featuring a fully electric powertrain for the first time.
The new Renault Twingo is compact and lightweight, with a 27.5kWh LFP battery and an 82hp (60kW) electric motor. Despite its modest power output, the Twingo offers balanced performance, thanks to its low weight. The compact size of the Twingo makes it ideal for city driving, with excellent visibility and maneuverability.
Inside, the Twingo features a modern cabin with retro-inspired design elements. The dashboard includes a body-colored panel with the Twingo logo, while the front seats offer ample room and flexibility. The rear seats can slide independently, allowing for various cargo configurations.
In terms of safety, the Twingo is equipped with a suite of advanced safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and blind-spot warning. While Euro NCAP has yet to assess the Twingo, its safety features and shared chassis with the Renault 5 suggest it will achieve a good safety rating.
The Renault Twingo is also cost-effective to run, with a service schedule of once every two years or 20,000km. Overall, the Renault Twingo is a charming and practical electric car, perfect for urban driving. Its blend of retro style and modern technology makes it an appealing choice for those looking for an affordable and efficient city car.
