Microsoft is giving its Xbox employees an Xbox email address

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma Emphasizes “We are Xbox” Identity

In a bold move, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently announced that Microsoft’s gaming division will now be known simply as Xbox. This strategic shift aims to reinforce the message that “We are Xbox,” a sentiment echoed by Sharma. As part of this rebranding effort, all Xbox employees will soon be issued @xbox.com email addresses, replacing their current @microsoft.com addresses.

Xbox Email Address Transition for Employees

The upcoming transition to @xbox.com email addresses for Xbox employees represents a significant step in solidifying the Xbox identity within and outside of Microsoft. While employees will have the option to retain their @microsoft.com addresses, the default send-from address will be changed to @xbox.com. Additionally, Mojang employees will also receive @mojang.com email addresses, ensuring a unified email appearance across the Xbox team and its partners.

Microsoft’s Push for Xbox Email Aliases

While some Xbox employees had previously obtained @xbox.com email addresses through IT requests, this initiative marks the first time Microsoft is actively rolling out Xbox email aliases to all gaming employees. This strategic email change aligns with the overarching “We are Xbox” campaign, as outlined in a memo by Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty and CEO Asha Sharma.

Future Vision for Xbox

In a joint memo, Sharma and Booty articulated their vision for the future of Xbox, emphasizing the shift away from the Microsoft Gaming name. The success of Xbox will now be measured by daily active players and key priorities such as hardware, content, experience, and services. This renewed focus underscores Xbox’s commitment to innovation and growth within the gaming industry.
