Zeekr Australia Introduces OTA Software Update for 7X Electric SUV

Zeekr Australia has rolled out its first over-the-air (OTA) software update for the 7X mid-size electric SUV, aiming to compete with the popular Tesla Model Y. The 7X, which hit Australian showrooms last year, has quickly become Zeekr’s best-selling model.

As of June 2, 2026, Australian customers can access the update, which includes Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), a digital key for Apple iPhone users, and enhancements to navigation and infotainment features. The update will be automatically applied to all 7X variants, with owners being able to manage the installation process through the SUV’s 16.0-inch touchscreen.

Frank Li, Zeekr Australia’s managing director, expressed excitement about the update, stating, “Our 7X customers are gaining new features that make their vehicle even smarter, easier to live with, and more enjoyable to drive. The RSPA system now includes a straight-line function, allowing drivers to remotely maneuver their 7X using an Apple iPhone for forward or backward movements. Additionally, iPhone users will benefit from a CCC 3.0 digital key, enabling smartphone-based vehicle unlocking.

Moreover, the OTA update enhances Apple CarPlay functionality, providing a smoother user experience and improved usability. Zeekr Australia has also revised alert tones, indicator sounds, and audible notifications to be less intrusive.

Since its launch in September 2025, the 7X has become Zeekr’s most popular model in Australia, outselling the Model Y in April 2026 and ranking as the country’s third-best selling electric vehicle (EV) year-to-date. Zeekr aims to sell 2000 7Xs per month, challenging the Model Y for EV sales leadership.

Over the past three years, the Model Y has held the title of Australia’s best-selling EV, dethroning the Tesla Model 3 sedan. Zeekr’s continued success with the 7X signals a shift in the EV market landscape.
