Control Resonant Digital Deluxe Edition Controversy: What Players Need to Know

Remedy Entertainment has recently announced pre-orders for Control Resonant, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit game Control. Set to launch on September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the game has stirred up some controversy regarding its Digital Deluxe Edition.

Players were quick to notice a disparity in the offerings between platforms when it comes to the $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition. While PlayStation users get 48 hours of early access, those on Xbox and PC do not receive the same benefit despite paying the same price.

Thomas Puha, Remedy’s Communications Director, confirmed that early access is indeed exclusive to PlayStation. This decision has left many fans feeling disappointed, as all platforms are priced equally but do not receive equal benefits.

Aside from the early access period, the Deluxe Edition includes a digital artbook, soundtrack, cosmetic bonuses, an AWE-themed outfit, starter resources, and various other extras. The issue lies in the perceived lack of fairness in value distribution across platforms.

During a recent PlayStation State of Play event, Remedy showcased Control Resonant, unveiling a release date and a story trailer revolving around Dylan Faden and the altered version of Manhattan. The sequel promises to further expand the mysterious supernatural universe that captivated players in the original game.

CONTROL Resonant is scheduled to launch on September 24th across Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
