Directive 8020 gets online multiplayer in latest update

Supermassive Games Adds Online Multiplayer to The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020

Supermassive Games has recently introduced online multiplayer functionality to Directive 8020, the latest installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology series. This new feature allows up to five players to collaborate and experience the chilling narrative together. The game offers various modes such as Custom Mode, Round Robin Mode, and Choice Voting, providing players with a unique and engaging multiplayer experience. Additionally, players have the flexibility to mix local and online multiplayer, enabling them to enjoy the game with friends both in-person and remotely. Moreover, new collectibles and customization DLC have been included to enhance the gameplay.

Directive 8020’s online multiplayer experience offers several exciting features:

  • Custom Mode: Experience the traditional couch co-op gameplay online, where players can choose their characters and take turns in the spotlight.

  • Round Robin Mode: Play without character allocation, with a set time for each player to take control.

  • Choice Voting: Collaborate with other players to make decisions, with on-screen prompts revealing voting outcomes.

  • Mix & Match Your Online Experience Geographically: Enjoy multiplayer gameplay with friends from different locations, offering a truly customizable experience.

  • New Customisation DLC: Alongside the multiplayer update, players can access new character wardrobe options, including retro silver space suits.

  • New Premonitions: Discover 13 new collectibles that offer glimpses of potential futures, influencing gameplay decisions.

It’s important to note that Directive 8020 does not support cross-play, requiring all online players to own the game. In a review by Tuffcub, he praised the game, stating, “Directive 8020 is by far the best Dark Pictures game, embracing more stealth gameplay, making the branching story feel seamless, and setting a new bar for the genre.”
