Google is introducing separate settings for saved history and personalized recommendations to offer users more customization options. The company is transitioning from managing history and personalization through Web & App Activity to the new Search Services History and Personalized Recommendations settings.
The Search Services History setting will control the storage of user activity from various search services, such as searches, Maps activity, Shopping searches, Flights and Hotels activity, Translate usage, News activity, and more. This change aims to facilitate revisiting past searches and utilizing new interactive search features.
Google emphasizes that saved media can consist of images, files, audio, and video from user interactions with Search services. This data is crucial for enhancing user experiences and supporting interactive product features like Google Lens visual searches and voice-based interactions.
Users can manage their Search Services History and Personalized Recommendations settings independently to tailor their search experience according to their preferences. Google assures users that privacy and security measures are in place to protect their data.
