G-POWER Unveils GP-480 Performance Upgrade for BMW B58 Engines

G-POWER, known for its expertise in tuning BMW’s M engines, has now set its sights on the B58 engine. This 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six has been a staple in non-M BMW models such as the M240i, M340i, M440i, and Z4 M40i for over a decade, attracting a dedicated following of enthusiasts who appreciate its performance.

The GP-480 Performance Upgrade is tailored specifically for the G42 M240i, G20/G21 M340i, G22/G23/G26 M440i, and G29 Z4 M40i models. The highlight of this package is the power boost to 480 hp, a significant increase from the B58’s factory output which typically ranges in the mid-300s depending on the model.

G-POWER promises a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) and an exhaust noise level of up to 100 dB, creating a track-inspired sound that sets these vehicles apart from traditional commuter cars.

The GP-480 Performance Software is not just a software upgrade; it includes an HJS downpipe, G-POWER DEEPTONE rear silencer with carbon-fiber tailpipes, GP charge pipes, and a GP intercooler. These components address common performance bottlenecks in tuned B58 engines, such as exhaust flow, charge cooling, and turbo response, all while ensuring seamless calibration.

G-POWER offers each component individually or as a complete package, all of which are road-legal and registrable, making them suitable for daily drivers. The installation takes place at G-POWER’s headquarters in Gachenbach, Bavaria, where the hardware is fitted, custom calibration is performed on their in-house dynamometer, and the car undergoes an inspection and certification process before being returned to the owner.
