Samsung’s Missed Opportunity: A Closer Look at Galaxy Unpacked

Samsung Unpacked 2026 Devices

During the recent Unpacked live stream, I stayed tuned until the very end, hoping for a surprise teaser about the smart ring. Back in January 2024, Samsung unveiled the original model at Unpacked, which took everyone by surprise.

It wasn’t until six months later that the Galaxy Ring was officially launched. With Samsung’s July 2026 Unpacked event approaching, it seemed like the perfect time for a two-year refresh of the smart ring.

Unfortunately, the only mention of the Galaxy Ring was that the original model would be the first smart ring approved by the FDA to detect sleep apnea. While this is great news for current owners, many are eagerly awaiting a new version.

Despite two years having passed since the launch of the original Galaxy Ring, Samsung seems content to wait even longer before unveiling the Galaxy Ring 2. While the company has confirmed that a successor is in the works, there is no clear roadmap for its release.

In response to inquiries about the new model, Samsung provided the standard statement: “Samsung does not speculate or comment on upcoming product launches.”

Better Late Than Never?

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Ring 2 may launch in early 2027, potentially alongside the Galaxy S27 series of phones. While the adage ‘better late than never’ may apply, many believe that Samsung missed an opportunity by not releasing it sooner.
