God of War Laufey: What to Expect in the Next Installment

Exciting news was unveiled at San Diego Comic Con with the announcement of the release date for God of War Laufey. Alongside this revelation, it has been confirmed that Kratos will once again take the helm as the protagonist in the upcoming game in the series.

The confirmation came from none other than Sony Santa Monica Head of Creative, Cory Barlog, during the SDCC panel dedicated to Laufey. Barlog emphasized that everything in the new game is a continuation of the previous installment, setting the stage for what lies ahead.

Barlog stated, “Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next. Phranque has been around since the beginning. It’s interesting to see how to build this world out. Everything in the game is setting up for something so amazing.”

The narrative of God of War Laufey aims to expand the universe of the series, potentially bringing Kratos into contact with a wider array of mythologies and godly pantheons. This shift could lead to a more seamless integration of different mythological elements into the storyline.

While Kratos’ previous adventures predominantly revolved around Greek mythology, the reboot in 2018 saw him navigating Norse realms. With God of War Laufey, the narrative will run parallel to God of War Ragnarok, featuring Kratos’ wife in the afterlife of the gods. As the story unfolds, Faye encounters beings from Egyptian and Tibetan mythologies, forming alliances in her quest to regain her powers and reunite with Kratos and Atreus.

It’s worth noting that God of War Laufey will be the final installment in the series to be released on physical media, marking the end of an era for the franchise.
