LinkedIn Introduces New Feature to Combat AI-Generated Content

LinkedIn is taking steps to address the issue of AI-generated content on its platform. Users will now have the ability to report posts that appear to be generated by AI, with the introduction of a new “Seems like AI slop” button.

This new feature is part of LinkedIn’s broader effort to reduce the prevalence of AI-generated content. Recent findings from AI detector Pangram revealed that 41 percent of longform posts on LinkedIn were flagged as being completely generated by AI, as reported by 404Media.

Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan emphasized the importance of addressing AI-generated content, stating, “AI slop is a top priority for all of us.” In addition to the reporting button, LinkedIn is implementing new classifiers to identify and reduce the presence of AI-generated or low-quality content in users’ feeds.

Users can now find the report button in the three-dots menu on posts. When clicked, LinkedIn will hide the post and display a message thanking the user for their feedback.

Srinivasan mentioned that the new reporting feature will help LinkedIn improve its algorithms and provide users with better content. The company is also testing ways to inform users when their posts are perceived as inauthentic or heavily reliant on AI.

Additionally, LinkedIn is phasing out a feature that used AI to enhance posts, replacing it with a tool that proofreads content without altering the user’s voice, as explained by Srinivasan.
