Breaking Records: The Top 10 Startup Investments in Sweden in 2021
Summary
With Stockholm-based Lovable announcing a €343 million Series C this week, we decided to take a closer look at Sweden’s startup funding landscape in 2026 so far. Sweden has produced some of Europe’s largest startup funding announcements this year, with Stockholm-based companies accounting for much of the capital covered by EU-Startups. From HealthTech and AI to FinTech, LegalTech and consumer brands, Swedish startups have continued to attract substantial rounds across a range of sectors.
For this ranking, we reviewed EU-Startups’ funding coverage published between 1 January and 14 August 2026, ranking Swedish startups and scale-ups by the size of the company funding round announced or completed during that period. To keep the comparison consistent, the ranking excludes VC fund closes, acquisitions, grants, loans and credit facilities. Where an announcement represented an extension to an earlier round, only the additional capital announced in 2026 is counted.
Together, the ten rounds below represent approximately €1.21 billion in funding. The two largest – Neko Health and Lovable – account for roughly 79% of that total, while eight of the ten companies are headquartered in Stockholm.
10. Lightbringer – €8.6 million Series A
Malmö-based LegalTech startup Lightbringer raised €8.6 million in June to support its US expansion and further product development. The round was co-led by 6 Degrees Capital and Newion. EU-Startups previously covered Lightbringer’s €4.2 million funding round in 2024.
9. Bits – €12 million Series A
Stockholm-based FinTech infrastructure startup Bits secured €12 million to increase automation across financial crime and compliance workflows, expand its product capabilities and add further European data coverage. Alstin Capital led the round, alongside investors including Cherry Ventures, Unusual Ventures and Alliance Ventures. EU-Startups previously reported on the company’s €4 million round in 2023.
8. Pit – €13.6 million
Stockholm-based Pit emerged from stealth in May with €13.6 million in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Founded by former leaders from Voi, Klarna and iZettle, the company is developing customised AI-native software for enterprise operations through what it describes as an “AI product team as a service” model.
7. AlixLabs – €15 million Series A
Lund-based semiconductor startup AlixLabs announced the closing of its €15 million Series A in the first quarter of 2026. The funding is intended to accelerate product development, expand technical capabilities and strengthen relationships with semiconductor manufacturers. The majority of the round – €14.1 million – had already been subscribed in November 2025 before the final close in 2026.
6. Quartr – €15.6 million
Stockholm-based financial data company Quartr closed a €15.6 million round in August to accelerate product development and expand its coverage of public-company data worldwide. Existing investor Altos Ventures led the funding, with SEB joining as a new investor. EU-Startups previously covered Quartr’s €5.4 million investment from Altos Ventures in 2024 and an earlier €7 million raise in 2022.
5. Legora – €42 million Series D extension
Legal AI company Legora announced €42 million in additional funding in April, extending its Series D to a total of €513 million and valuing the Stockholm-based company at €4.7 billion post-money. New investors in the extension included Atlassian and NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm. For this ranking, only the €42 million of new capital announced in 2026 is counted. EU-Startups previously reported on Legora’s €70 million Series B in 2025.
4. Lassie – €63.2 million Series C
Stockholm-based pet InsurTech Lassie raised €63.2 million in February to expand further across Europe and increase its use of AI. Balderton Capital, Felix Capital, Inventure, Passion Capital and Stena Sessan participated in the round. EU-Startups had previously covered Lassie’s €23 million Series B in 2023 and an €11 million round in 2022.
3. Nordic Knots – €86 million
Stockholm-based interiors and e-commerce company Nordic Knots secured approximately €86 million in fresh funding in March, valuing the company at €1.9 billion. Led by Imaginary Ventures, the investment is being used for international retail expansion, product development and further brand growth, with the US remaining the company’s largest market.
2. Lovable – €343 million Series C
As mention at the outset of this article, Stockholm-based AI software creation platform Lovable raised €343 million this week at an €11.4 billion valuation. Menlo Ventures led the Series C, with the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT co-leading, while the capital is intended to support the company’s platform, infrastructure and global team. The raise came less than a year after EU-Startups covered Lovable’s €281 million Series B in December 2025.
1. Neko Health – €612.7 million Series C
Stockholm-based HealthTech company Neko Health announced a €612.7 million Series C in July, making it the largest Swedish startup funding round covered by EU-Startups in 2026 so far. Led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and co-led by O.G. Venture Partners, the funding will support Neko Health’s US launch as well as continued investment in its preventive-health research and technology. The round follows a €250 million Series B reported by EU-Startups in January 2025.
The distribution is highly concentrated at the top. Neko Health’s €612.7 million Series C and Lovable’s €343 million Series C together represent almost four-fifths of the total, while adding Nordic Knots and Lassie brings the four largest rounds to more than 91% of the capital represented here. Stockholm is similarly prominent geographically, accounting for eight of the ten companies.
In 2026, Sweden’s startup ecosystem is thriving across various sectors, including HealthTech, AI software, LegalTech, FinTech, InsurTech, semiconductors, and consumer e-commerce. This diversification is evident in the ranking of the largest funding rounds, showcasing the country’s dynamic and multifaceted startup landscape.
As of August 14, 2026, Neko Health stands out as Sweden’s top startup raise of the year, according to EU-Startups’ coverage. Following closely behind are Lovable in second place and Nordic Knots in third place, highlighting the innovation and growth potential of these companies within the Swedish startup scene.
