SpaceX Completes Acquisition of Cursor Technology
AI Coding Startup Cursor Now Part of SpaceX
In a recent announcement on the Cursor blog, it was revealed that the AI coding startup Cursor has officially become a part of SpaceX.
SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, had previously acquired Musk’s xAI and later struck a deal with Cursor in April to collaborate on technology development. The deal included an option for SpaceX to acquire Cursor for $60 billion, a move that was confirmed two months later when SpaceX went public.
Cursor emphasized SpaceX’s robust computing infrastructure in its announcement of the closed deal. SpaceX has been leasing its computing power to companies like Anthropic and Google, although it is currently facing a lawsuit over the environmental impact of its data center gas turbines.
By joining forces with SpaceX, Cursor now has access to what they refer to as “the largest fleet of GPUs in the world.” This strategic move positions Cursor to leverage SpaceX’s advanced computing capabilities for future projects.
According to Cursor, SpaceX is actively working towards expanding computing capacity to enhance intelligence on a global scale. Cursor sees itself as a key player in harnessing this intelligence for practical applications, aligning with SpaceX’s vision for groundbreaking advancements.
