Maastricht-based Clementine raises €1.7 million to scale its AI-powered hearing care platform

Clementine, a startup based in Maastricht, has developed an AI-powered platform aimed at assisting hearing clinics in converting leads into patients. Recently, the company secured €1.7 million ($2 million) in Seed funding.

This funding round was spearheaded by Healthy.Capital, a HealthTech investor based in Amsterdam, known for supporting various startups in the healthcare sector such as Pharmi, MS Sherpa, and OpenUp, among others.

Clementine’s combination of specialized knowledge and a scalable AI platform strategy has attracted the attention of Healthy.Capital. The potential impact of revolutionizing how individuals with hearing impairments interact with hearing healthcare is a driving force behind our investment, stated Douwe Jippes, managing partner at Healthy.Capital.

Established in 2024 and headquartered in Maastricht, Clementine was founded by Vince van de Weijer, who currently serves as the CEO. Referred to as ClementineAI, the company prides itself on being the first AI hearing activation platform in the world, specifically designed for the hearing-care industry.

Central to their platform is Matthew, Clementine’s AI hearing care agent, which engages with potential patients directly. This AI agent operates 24/7, providing information, addressing inquiries, and guiding individuals towards appropriate care without bias or delays.

For clinics struggling to manage patient inquiries effectively, Matthew streamlines communication, reduces administrative burden, and enhances overall hearing outcomes for patients.

“Clinics don’t just need more leads; they require meaningful conversations at the right moment,” emphasized Vince van de Weijer, founder and CEO of Clementine. “Our AI Hearing Care Agent, Matthew, ensures that every patient query receives a timely response,”

Following a recent expansion into the U.S. and Canadian markets through a partnership with Zoolstra, a marketing agency serving hearing clinics, Clementine has secured additional funding to enhance its AI capabilities and forge new partnerships within the healthcare sector.

With approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide affected by hearing loss, and nearly 80% of them not seeking treatment, Clementine aims to bridge this gap by utilizing AI and behavioral science to provide accessible and judgment-free support for individuals considering hearing care.

The funding raised will be instrumental in advancing Clementine’s AI technology and expanding collaborations with hearing clinics, optical retailers, and other healthcare entities.
