Introducing Romo 2: The Ultimate Drone Upgrade for Enhanced Performance and Privacy

DJI has recently unveiled the latest iteration of its popular Romo robovac, the Romo 2 series. This new model boasts significant improvements over its predecessor, including enhanced power, quieter operation, and improved obstacle navigation capabilities. One standout feature is the introduction of a local-only data mode, addressing security concerns that plagued the first Romo release.

The Romo 2 series comprises two models: the transparent P2 and the opaque A2. Both variants feature advanced navigation systems that enable them to navigate around obstacles as small as 2mm and transparent objects like mirrors with ease. Additionally, the inclusion of “human-like reasoning and concept transfer” allows the Romo 2 to learn from past encounters and adapt to new challenges.

Equipped with two legs at the bottom, the Romo 2 can effortlessly climb over small steps up to 4cm in height, facilitating seamless transitions between different floor levels. Its enhanced suction power on carpets, extended brush and mop arms, and reduced noise levels further enhance its cleaning capabilities.

Despite the impressive features of the original Romo, security vulnerabilities compromised its integrity, leading to widespread concerns. DJI has addressed these issues with the introduction of Local Data Mode in the Romo 2, ensuring user privacy and data security by severing the vacuum’s internet connection and providing options to disable cameras and microphones.

While pricing and release details for the Romo 2 are yet to be announced, DJI’s commitment to enhancing security and privacy features is evident. The rollout of Local Data Mode in Q4 signals a new standard in home robotics, with plans to extend the feature to earlier Romo models. However, US consumers may face challenges accessing the Romo 2 due to regulatory restrictions.
