Revolutionizing Charging: iPhone Ultra’s MagSafe Feature Sets It Apart from Samsung Foldables
Apple iPhone Ultra: The Future of Foldable Technology
The introduction of MagSafe technology in the Apple iPhone Ultra may seem like a natural progression. The iPhone Air, launched just a year ago, served as a precursor to the Ultra, showcasing how innovative engineering solutions can be implemented in an ultra-slim design. Interestingly, the 5.6mm thick iPhone Air already features MagSafe, hinting at the direction Apple is taking with its future devices.
With the Ultra expected to be even slimmer at around 4.5mm when unfolded, incorporating magnetic wireless charging technology presents a significant challenge. However, similar to the Air, the Ultra is rumored to house a plethora of cutting-edge tech within its sizeable camera plateau. In the Air, this space accommodates the logic board, processors, and camera components.

The inclusion of magnetic wireless charging sets the iPhone Ultra apart from its key competitor, Samsung, who currently dominates the foldables market. Despite Samsung’s 40% market share in 2025, Apple is poised to challenge this dominance in 2026.
Samsung’s early release of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 gave them a head start over Apple in the foldable arena. While the Z Fold 8 received positive reviews, it lacks a telephoto lens, a feature also expected to be absent in the Ultra. However, what sets the Ultra apart is its innovative magnetic wireless charging capability, a feature not found in any Samsung foldable device.
The anticipated higher price point of the iPhone Ultra compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 or the Z Fold 8 Ultra underscores the luxury positioning of Apple’s flagship device. The convenience and cutting-edge technology, including magnetic wireless charging, could appeal to discerning high-end consumers looking for the latest in foldable technology.
