According to Steffi Steffen, Senior Director of Licensed Merchandise at Sony, the collaboration between PlayStation and LEGO designers aims to capture the essence of PlayStation’s origins. As players assemble the set, they will discover hidden details from PlayStation’s rich history, as well as references to two iconic games that debuted on the original console, namely Ape Escape and Gran Turismo.
The interactive set includes customizable elements such as a miniature track with scaled-down cars for Gran Turismo, and a nostalgic island scene with a swappable light on the monkey’s helmet for Ape Escape. Moreover, the LEGO PlayStation features functional mechanisms for the console’s Power and Open buttons, a detachable controller that can be plugged into the console, and the option to display both game dioramas separately.
For those eager to get their hands on the LEGO PlayStation, it will be available for purchase directly from PlayStation’s website in select countries, including the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, and more. Additionally, LEGO Insiders Early Access members will have the opportunity to acquire the set from LEGO.com.
