BMW’s Ambitious Plans for 2027: A Comprehensive Overview

BMW is gearing up for an incredibly busy year in 2027, with a slew of new and updated models set to hit the market. From revamped classics to all-new electrified offerings, the German automaker is leaving no stone unturned in its quest for automotive excellence.

Exciting Lineup in the Works

Among the highlights of BMW’s upcoming lineup are the new G50 3 Series, a China-exclusive long-wheelbase G58 sedan, and the electric ZA0 M3. These models will be joined by the redesigned NB5 iX1, marking a significant step forward for the brand.

Facelifts are also on the horizon for the 5 Series, M5 sedan and Touring, and 7 Series. The latter will see the revival of ALPINA in both gasoline and electric i7 variants, adding a touch of luxury and performance to the lineup.

Two Platforms for the 3 Series

In a first for the brand, the 3 Series will be split into two distinct platforms. The combustion G50 sedan and G51 Touring will continue to utilize the CLAR II architecture, while the electric i3 will transition to BMW’s dedicated Neue Klasse underpinnings.

BMW’s design chief, Adrian van Hooydonk, aims to make the two variants visually cohesive, with subtle differences to accommodate the electric drivetrain. Production of the G50 is scheduled to begin later this year in Dingolfing, while the electric i3 Touring (NA1) will follow suit in Munich in 2027.

Electric M3 and More

One of the most anticipated releases is the ZA0, an all-electric M3 that will run parallel to the gasoline-powered G84 M3. With an estimated output of 800 to 900 horsepower, the ZA0 represents a bold step into the future for BMW’s M division.
