2027 is poised to be a pivotal year for BMW M enthusiasts, as the electrifying M3 takes center stage alongside the revamped M5. The mid-cycle update for the M5 signals a significant shift towards the Neue Klasse era, ushering in a new era of design language for the beloved sedan.

While a complete redesign is not on the cards for the facelifted model, substantial visual alterations are in store. The camouflage-clad prototype hints at a refreshed front end, featuring redesigned headlights and a more subdued kidney grille, in line with the evolving aesthetic.

The front bumper may also undergo subtle changes, possibly incorporating cube-shaped white LEDs reminiscent of the Track Lights showcased in the M Concept Neue Klasse. This design element is expected to extend to the rear, with stacked red squares adding a touch of modernity.

2028 BMW M5: Redefining Luxury and Performance

The upcoming changes extend beyond aesthetics, with updated taillight graphics and the signature double-yellow light motif from the M Concept Neue Klasse. While the exterior enhancements are notable, the interior of the M5 is set for a revolutionary overhaul.

With the integration of iDrive X and Panoramic Vision, the dashboard will undergo significant modifications, necessitating a substantial investment. A center touchscreen and potential passenger-side display are expected across the 5 Series lineup, marking a departure from traditional controls.

Despite speculations about a return to a gasoline-only M5, the reality remains rooted in sustainability. The plug-in hybrid configuration is here to stay, evident from the charging port and “E” license plate suffix on the prototypes.

While the focus remains on the M5 sedan, the G99 wagon is also poised for a transformative Neue Klasse makeover in 2027, aligning with BMW’s commitment to innovation and performance.
