Enveda’s $311M Funding Boost to Accelerate Nature-Inspired AI Drug Development in Clinical Trials
The Rise of Enveda: Revolutionizing Drug Discovery with AI
Enveda, a groundbreaking biotech startup leveraging artificial intelligence to unearth novel drugs from nature, recently secured an impressive $311 million in Series E funding, valuing the company at $2 billion. This substantial investment, spearheaded by Catalio Capital Management and supported by Iconiq and other key players, marks a significant milestone as Enveda’s valuation has now doubled within just a year.
Envisioned as a platform to tap into the vast potential of plants and microbes for potent medications, Enveda challenges the traditional approach of synthesizing drugs in laboratories. Founded in 2019 by Viswa Colluru, a former Recursion Pharmaceuticals executive, the company is dedicated to accelerating the discovery of transformative drugs through the integration of AI and cutting-edge methodologies.
Despite the fact that AI-driven drug discovery has yet to yield FDA-approved medications, Enveda stands at the forefront of a new era, moving AI-discovered drug candidates through human clinical trials. Currently, the startup is actively testing multiple drugs in patients, including one tailored for severe skin conditions and another aimed at supporting weight management post-cessation of GLP-1s.
