ARC Raiders to Introduce PvE Option in October Beta Test
Embark Studios Introduces PvE Mode Testing for ARC Raiders in October
Embark Studios has recently announced their plans to introduce a PvE toggle for their popular extraction shooter game, ARC Raiders. This new feature is set to be tested in October, following the release of ARC Raiders: Frozen Trail on 8th October.
During the PvE testing phase, which will run from 13th to 20th October, players will have the option to choose between the standard PvPvE gameplay and a PvE mode where cooperation with other Raiders is essential in battling the ARC robots.
What to Expect in the PvE Mode
Players opting for the PvE mode can anticipate some tweaks to the game content and rewards. While progression will be shared between the two modes, the overall loot value in PvE will be slightly reduced to account for lower risks. Additionally, ARCs will now have the ability to target downed players who are on the move. Certain conditions such as Night Raids, Hidden Bunker, Locked Gate, and Frigate will be excluded from this playtest. It’s worth noting that player-to-player damage will be disabled in PvE mode.
ARC Raiders is following a trend in the extraction shooter genre by incorporating a PvE element, providing players with an alternative gaming experience without the tension of hostile player encounters. Similar games like Tarkov and Marathon have also embraced PvE modes, catering to a growing demand for cooperative gameplay.
Originally conceived as a PvE-focused game, ARC Raiders underwent a development shift but is now revisiting its roots to accommodate a significant portion of players who prefer cooperation over combat. The studio acknowledges the importance of supporting this player demographic and aims to provide a seamless gaming experience for all types of players.
Embark Studios has identified a sizable portion of players (37%) who prefer a friendly gameplay environment, with 51% expressing interest in a PvE option. While not a unanimous decision, the introduction of PvE mode reflects the studio’s commitment to diversifying gameplay options and attracting a broader player base.
As with many live service games, ARC Raiders has experienced a gradual decline in player numbers over the past year. The launch of Frozen Trail is expected to revitalize the player community and drive engagement. Moving forward, Embark Studios plans to develop future content with player preferences in mind to ensure a sustainable and engaging gaming experience.
