Microsoft Bounces Back: Recovery from Azure Outage Affects 365, Xbox, and Starbucks
On 29 October 2025, around 16:00 UTC, Azure Front Door (AFD) users and Microsoft services encountered issues such as delays, timeouts, and errors. The root cause was identified as an accidental configuration change.
The impact of this incident extended to various Azure services, including but not limited to App Service, Azure Active Directory B2C, Azure Communication Services, and Azure Databricks.
Efforts to address the situation resulted in AFD’s availability rising above 98%. While most affected customers and services have seen improvements, work continues to fully restore operations for those still impacted. The current target for complete mitigation is 00:40 UTC on 30 October 2025.
