Samsung Enhances Sleep Tracking and Coaching Features

Samsung has streamlined its sleep tracking process by introducing a survey that users can fill out to provide key information such as their alcohol/caffeine intake and overall sleep satisfaction. With just three days of overnight tracking in a two-week period, users can now be assigned a sleep animal, making the process faster and more efficient.

The sleep tracking approach taken by Samsung is considered one of the best in the market, alongside Huawei. This update allows users to access actionable insights much quicker, improving the overall user experience.

The presentation of collected sleep data has been updated in the Samsung Health app, now featuring a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph. This graph highlights five key areas: sleep time, sleep regularity, time spent awake, sleep satisfaction, and your Energy Score.

To access Sleep Coaching, users need Samsung Health v6.24 or newer on a Galaxy phone running Android 11 or later. They can pair this with a Galaxy Watch 4 or newer, a Galaxy Fit 3 or newer, or a Galaxy Ring for enhanced tracking and coaching.

In addition to the sleep tracking improvements, Samsung has expanded its Running Coach feature by adding two extra levels beyond the previous cap of 10. This enhancement caters to avid runners, providing guided software support for those participating in challenging running events like ultra-marathons.

This update comes at a strategic time with the recent release of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and the durable Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. By introducing these enhancements, Samsung aims to provide a competitive edge, especially as Apple Watch alternatives have been unveiled.
