Maze Theory has recently announced the upcoming release of Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows on December 4th. Alongside this exciting news, the studio has unveiled two gameplay videos showcasing the game in action. One video demonstrates Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows running on PSVR 2, while the other showcases its performance on Meta Quest. Both videos feature the same sequence, allowing viewers to compare the gameplay experience on different platforms.

The storyline of Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows follows the protagonist, Magpie, navigating through a shadowy city controlled by the tyrant Lord Ulysses Northcrest. As an orphaned thief shaped by the streets, Magpie resorts to stealing for survival until a remarkable discovery changes everything. Players will utilize immersive VR mechanics to steal, evade, and outsmart the city’s oppressive forces while uncovering dark secrets and unraveling a sinister conspiracy.

In a recent blog post on the PlayStation blog, Steven Gallagher, the Creative Director at Eidos-Montréal, shared insights into the game’s development process. He revealed that Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows is not the first venture into VR for the Thief franchise. Eidos-Montréal previously experimented with a playable VR demo during Sony’s Project Morpheus era, although the initial attempt faced challenges due to limited VR experience at the time.

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows introduces non-linear levels, providing players with significant freedom in approaching various scenarios. Emphasizing stealth and strategic planning over combat, players must carefully navigate the city’s intricate layout to execute successful heists effectively.
