The Latest Upgrades for Volkswagen SUVs in Australia

Volkswagen recently announced a series of upgrades for its popular Tiguan and Tayron SUV models in Australia. Despite the recent launches of these vehicles in May and September, the German automaker is already introducing model year 2026 (MY26) enhancements.

One of the key additions is the Volkswagen Turning Assistant 2.0, now standard across the Tiguan and Tayron ranges. This feature improves collision avoidance by detecting and responding to oncoming traffic turning towards the vehicle, as well as when the driver turns across oncoming traffic.

Additionally, new aero covers are now included as standard for the 20-inch ‘Leeds’ alloy wheels on the Tiguan 195TSI R-Line, aligning them with other Volkswagen models like the Golf R-Line and Touareg R-Line.

To enhance the ride comfort of the Tiguan 110TSI Life and 110TSI Elegance variants, Volkswagen has downsized the wheels from 19-inch to 17-inch ‘Venezia’ and 18-inch ‘Napoli’ alloy wheels respectively.

Furthermore, all Tiguan Elegance and R-Line models will now feature illuminated VW emblems at the front and rear, adding a touch of elegance to these vehicles.

Expansion of Volkswagen’s SUV Range

Looking ahead to 2026, Volkswagen plans to introduce the Tiguan eHybrid and Tayron eHybrid plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) with over 100km of all-electric driving range. These new models will offer customers a wide range of powertrain options, including turbocharged petrol engines, all-wheel drive variants, and high-performance flagships.

With a focus on providing diverse powertrain choices, Volkswagen is committed to expanding its lineup with turbo-petrol and PHEV options alongside its electric SUVs. The brand aims to cater to a wide range of customers within the $45-75,000 price bracket.
