Blackmagic’s free camera app can now stream to YouTube and Twitch

Blackmagic Camera App Update: Stream Directly to YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo

Blackmagic recently rolled out a significant update to its popular free camera app, introducing new features that cater to the needs of streamers and professional broadcasters. One of the standout additions is the ability for both Android and iOS versions of the Blackmagic Camera app to stream directly to major platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo. This eliminates the necessity for third-party apps or additional encoding hardware, simplifying the streaming process for users. By simply selecting their preferred platform and entering a secure stream key, content creators can seamlessly go live with their broadcasts.

Moreover, the update introduces support for SRT, a modern streaming protocol favored by professional broadcasters. SRT is designed to enhance streaming performance on networks with varying speeds and reliability, such as the internet. Additionally, Blackmagic Camera now offers compatibility with custom RTMP and SRT servers, providing streamers with alternative options beyond the three native platforms.

In addition to these streaming enhancements, the app brings several other improvements to the table. Users can now receive detailed alerts in real-time when an external drive is disconnected, a feature aimed at preventing data loss, especially when working with high-resolution and high-framerate Apple ProRes files that the iPhone cannot record internally. Furthermore, there is now an option to customize the number of multi-view angles while monitoring remote cameras, offering greater flexibility in arranging multiple video feeds on devices with larger screens like iPads or Macs.
