Microsoft Edge Ends Support for Manifest V2 Extensions

Microsoft Edge has announced that it will be discontinuing support for the Manifest V2 extensions platform. This move will result in the uBlock Origin adblocker, among others, being cut off from the web browser, similar to what Google Chrome did earlier this year. According to Microsoft, there are currently only 58 extensions on the Edge Add-On Store that still utilize MV2, with only three of them not yet available on the newer MV3 platform.

Users who are still relying on these extensions have the option to switch to alternative adblockers like uBlock Origin Lite. Alternatively, they can consider using a different browser such as Opera, which continues to support existing MV2 extensions and has committed to doing so for the foreseeable future.
