Amidst the flurry of information, it was confirmed that the Switch 2 will hit shelves on June 5th. For those looking to dive right into gaming, there will be a bundle option that includes a digital copy of Mario Kart World. The standard version of the console is priced at $449.99, £395.99, €469.99, while the bundle will cost $499.99, £429.99, €509.99.
Pre-orders for the Switch 2 will open on April 8th in the UK and April 9th in the US, allowing eager fans to secure their consoles ahead of the official launch.
One of the standout features of the new console is its enhanced internal storage capacity of 256GB, offering faster read and write speeds compared to its predecessor. The Switch 2 boasts a larger screen size of 7.9 inches, supporting 1080p resolution at up to 120fps and HDR technology for a more immersive gaming experience.
Additionally, the Dock supports HDR at up to 4K resolution. The Joy-Con controllers have been upgraded and now magnetically attach to the console. The inclusion of two USB-C ports, one on the top and one on the bottom, provides flexibility for various gaming accessories.
One of the most exciting features of the Switch 2 is the introduction of GameChat, a cross-game voice chat feature that utilizes a noise-cancelling microphone integrated into the console. This innovation enhances multiplayer gaming experiences and communication among players.
While the Switch 2 is compatible with some existing game cartridges, users will need faster extended storage options as it only supports MicroSD Express cards. The console’s enhanced power allows for improved performance in updated games, which will be labeled as the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for easy identification.
With the majority of Switch games being compatible with the new console, gamers can seamlessly transition their existing game libraries to the Switch 2. This ensures that players can continue enjoying their favorite titles while benefitting from the enhanced capabilities of the new hardware.
