SoftBank Group and Nvidia Potential $1 Billion Investment in Skild AI

SoftBank Group and Nvidia are currently in discussions to lead an investment exceeding $1 billion in Skild AI, a software company known for developing a groundbreaking robotics model, as reported by Reuters.

Skild AI, a startup established nearly three years ago, is on the verge of a significant financial boost, with its valuation potentially reaching $14 billion. In May, the company secured $500 million in funding from SoftBank, LG Technology Ventures, Samsung, Nvidia, and other key players, reflecting its immense growth trajectory and potential in the industry, according to PitchBook data. Skild AI has yet to comment on these recent developments, while both SoftBank and Nvidia have chosen to remain silent on the matter.

Skild AI’s Innovative Approach to Robotics

Unlike many of its competitors, Skild AI’s focus lies not in developing proprietary hardware but in creating a versatile foundation model that can be tailored to different types of robots and applications. This approach sets Skild AI apart in the market, positioning it as a leader in robot-agnostic technology.

In July, Skild AI introduced its Skild Brain general-purpose robot model, showcasing its capabilities through videos demonstrating tasks such as dish handling and stair navigation. The company has also formed strategic partnerships with industry giants LG CNS and Hewlett Packard Enterprise to further enhance its ecosystem and reach.

Rising Interest in AI Robotics Investments

The surge in investor interest in AI robotics is evident, with companies like Physical Intelligence receiving significant funding. Reports suggest that Physical Intelligence recently raised $600 million at a valuation of $5.6 billion, demonstrating the growing market demand for advanced robotics solutions. Investors are closely monitoring the progress of such companies, recognizing the potential for innovation and growth in the sector.
