Microsoft Copilot Incident Impacts Users in Europe

Microsoft is currently addressing an issue affecting users in Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom, who are facing difficulties accessing the company’s AI-powered Copilot digital assistant. The incident has caused some users to experience degraded functionality with specific features.

The tech giant acknowledged the issue one hour ago, stating, “We’re investigating an issue in which users in the United Kingdom may be unable to access Microsoft Copilot, or experience degraded functionality with some features.”

Upon reviewing service monitoring telemetry to identify the root cause of the outage, Microsoft determined that a capacity scaling issue was to blame. The company is actively working to resolve this issue.

Microsoft explained, “Indications from service monitoring telemetry suggest an unexpected increase in traffic has resulted in impact. We’re continuing to investigate further to determine the next steps required.”

In response to the incident, Microsoft is manually scaling capacity to improve service availability. The company is closely monitoring the situation to ensure that service resumes as expected.

According to a service alert (CP1193544) observed by BleepingComputer, users attempting to access Microsoft Copilot within the United Kingdom or Europe may be impacted by the outage.

Furthermore, Microsoft is dealing with another incident (DZ1193516) affecting some admins who are encountering errors when accessing Microsoft Defender for Endpoint features such as device inventory and threat analytics. This issue has been flagged as significant, indicating widespread user impact.

Just last week, Microsoft resolved an outage that prevented access to certain Defender XDR portal capabilities, including threat hunting alerts.
