Nintendo’s Warning: Switch Game Vouchers Won’t Get You New Console Exclusives, eShop Gold Points Ditched
Nintendo has recently made some important updates to its Switch Game Vouchers and eShop Gold Points schemes, which will impact current and future Switch users. As we eagerly await the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April, it’s essential to stay informed about these changes.
Firstly, let’s discuss the discontinuation of Gold Points, which are rewards earned by purchasing games on the eShop. Starting from March 25, 2025, customers will no longer earn Gold Points for digital purchases or by redeeming download codes. However, pre-orders made until March 24, 2025, will still earn Gold Points regardless of the release date of the game. It’s crucial to note that Gold Points can still be earned by registering physical Game Cards on the Nintendo Switch console, as long as the game was released before March 24, 2025. These points will remain valid for 12 months from the date of earning them, even as the scheme comes to an end.
Moving on to the Switch Game Vouchers, which allow users to purchase two games at a discounted price, Nintendo has specified that these vouchers cannot be redeemed for Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games. This limitation may impact users who were planning to use vouchers for upcoming titles.
These changes raise questions about the future of purchasing Switch and Switch 2 games. How do you feel about these updates? Share your thoughts below!
As we await the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and navigate these changes, it’s essential to stay informed and adapt to the evolving landscape of Nintendo’s rewards programs. Stay tuned for more updates on the Nintendo Switch ecosystem.
