Nissan Unveils Aura Nismo RS Concept at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon

The Nissan Aura Nismo RS: A Closer Look at Nissan’s Latest Concept Car

During the recent Tokyo Auto Salon, car enthusiasts were treated to a glimpse of some of the most innovative and rare creations in the automotive world. One standout was the GR Yaris Morizo RR from Toyota, but Nissan also made waves with the unveiling of their new Aura Nismo RS concept.

The Nissan Aura Nismo RS is a sporty hatchback based on the standard Note Aura Nismo model. This version of the Aura Note features widened flared fenders that add 5.7 inches to its width, giving it a more aggressive and dynamic appearance. The car sits 0.8 inches lower than the standard Nismo, further enhancing its muscular stance.

The front of the Aura Nismo RS boasts an extreme splitter, while the side skirts feature blade-like elements behind the front wheels. Moving to the rear, the car is equipped with bulging fenders beneath a full-width taillight and a massive rear diffuser. A large spoiler on the rear roof enhances downforce and reduces drag.

Under the hood, the Aura Nismo RS concept is powered by an e-power hybrid system derived from the X-Trail Nismo. This series-hybrid system uses an engine to charge the batteries and power the motors that drive the wheels.

The powertrain includes a 201-horsepower e-motor at the front and a 134-horsepower e-motor at the rear, along with a 142-horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. To enhance cornering performance, Nissan has equipped the car with high-grip tires and a retuned e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system. The front brakes feature four pistons, while the rear brakes have two pistons for improved braking capability.

While the Aura Nismo RS may only be available in Japan, Nissan has confirmed that the e-power hybrid system will soon make its way to the US market. It is speculated that a Nismo-branded performance model with the hybrid system may also be in the works. For now, Nissan is focused on developing sporty hybrid vehicles to meet the demands of the modern automotive market.
