While both cars completed the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds, the M5 was significantly faster at the traps, reaching 127.2 mph compared to the RS6’s 123 mph.

As the test progressed, the M5 Touring maintained its lead, finishing the challenge 0.8 seconds ahead of the RS6. Crossing the finish line, the BMW reached a speed of 140.4 mph, surpassing the Audi’s 134.4 mph.

While performance is a key factor, other considerations such as price play a significant role. The BMW M5 Touring tested by Edmunds was priced at $145,775, while the Audi RS6 had a higher price tag of $167,140, making the BMW a more cost-effective option.

Looking ahead, both BMW and Audi are gearing up for the future. The 2026 models of the M5 Touring and RS6 Avant are expected to be similarly priced, starting at $129,350 and $131,995 respectively. Audi is already working on a next-generation RS6, while BMW is planning a facelift for the M5 Touring in 2028.
