Revolutionizing the Road: The 2026 Kia EV4 – Price and Performance Revealed
The Kia EV4 is set to hit local showrooms later this month, with a starting price of $49,990 before on-road costs. Positioned as a mid-size electric sedan, the EV4 falls between the entry-level BYD Seal Dynamic and the Tesla Model 3 RWD in terms of pricing.
Unlike its competitors, the EV4 is only available in a front-wheel drive configuration. However, Kia offers customers a choice of two different battery options and three trim levels. The larger battery pack provides up to 612km of range.
The EV4 comes at a premium over the equivalent EV3 small SUV, but it offers more range due to its sleek sedan body style. The Australian EV4 Sedans are sourced from South Korea, with a hatchback version available in Europe. The upcoming GT performance variant showcased at the Brussels motor show has yet to be confirmed for the Australian market.
Measuring 4730mm in length and 1860mm in width, the EV4 Sedan is similar in size to the K4 Sedan but slightly longer than the Tesla Model 3. It features a 55mm shorter wheelbase and is 73mm narrower than the Model 3.
In terms of pricing, the EV4 lineup includes the Air Standard Range, Earth Long Range, and GT-Line Long Range variants. Each variant offers different features and specifications to cater to different customer preferences.
All EV4 models come with a front-mounted electric motor and a 400V electrical system. The E-GMP platform shared with the EV3 provides the EV4 with MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension.
Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot assist, and lane-keep assist. The GT-Line variant adds additional safety features such as Blind Spot View Monitor and Parking Collision Avoidance.
The EV4 lineup offers a range of standard equipment across different trim levels, including alloy wheels, LED headlights, touchscreen infotainment system, and wireless phone charger. The GT-Line variant adds premium features like a head-up display, ambient lighting, and a Harman Kardon sound system.
Customers can choose from a range of exterior paint colors for an additional cost, with interior color options varying across the trim levels. The EV4’s interior is predominantly Onyx Black, with contrasting colors available in the Earth and GT-Line variants.
Kia Australia provides a seven-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty for the EV4, along with a warranty for high-voltage components like the battery and electric motor. Service pricing for the EV4 has yet to be announced.
In conclusion, the Kia EV4 combines style, performance, and sustainability in a competitively priced package. With its range of features and options, the EV4 offers customers a compelling choice in the electric vehicle market.
