Unleashing the Power: How a Wireless Power Bank Transformed My Daily Life
It’s been a while since I last connected my phone to a charger. Ever since I started using MagSafe, I’ve found it convenient to simply place my smartphone on one of the many wireless charging stands I have at home. However, this habit doesn’t work well when I need to charge on the go.
While there are plenty of MagSafe-equipped power banks available, they have struggled to provide a seamless charging experience due to one major issue: heat. Wireless charging generates more heat than wired charging, which poses a challenge when the charger is attached to the back of your phone. The excess heat often slows down the charging speed or causes the phone to lose charge quickly.
An ideal solution
Sharge’s Icemag 3 power bank addresses this issue by incorporating a built-in cooling fan. The Icemag 3 stands out from its competitors with its unique glass back design. A transparent window at the bottom allows a glimpse of the internal circuitry and the cooling fan in action. There’s also a vent at the bottom to release hot air, along with a vertical kickstand that can be adjusted for optimal viewing angles.
One of the standout features of the Icemag 3 is its Qi2 charging pad, which supports fast 25W charging speeds for compatible phones like the iPhone 17 and Google Pixel 10 series. The power bank sustains these speeds without overheating, thanks to the effective cooling fan. Additionally, the power bank features a USB-C port for 35W charging and a built-in USB-C cable that can be converted into a loop, allowing for simultaneous charging of up to three devices.
With a total capacity of 10,000mAh, the Icemag 3 can charge many flagship phones from empty to full twice on a single charge. The cooling fan, while effective, can be noisy at times, but it quickly becomes background noise in quiet environments.
Small downsides, but still easy to recommend
Despite its impressive features, the Icemag 3 has a couple of drawbacks. The metal kickstand feels flimsy and loose at times, raising concerns about its durability. Additionally, the power bank does not support pass-through charging, meaning it cannot be used as a wireless charging stand while being charged.
Overall, the Sharge Icemag 3 is a fast and reliable Qi2 power bank that offers good value for money at £59.44/$79.90, especially considering its discounted price. Sharge continues to showcase innovative products, proving that phone accessories can be both functional and stylish.
