Advertising on Apple Maps: A New Frontier for Businesses
Apple Maps Introduces Ads in Search Results
Apple has recently implemented ads within its Maps application, allowing businesses to secure top positions by paying for advertising spots. These ads are now visible on iPhones, appearing at the forefront of the “suggested places” section in search results. As reported by 9to5Mac, the rollout of these ads commenced this week and is set to reach more users in the US and Canada in the coming weeks.
Distinctively marked with a blue “ad” icon, these advertisements bear a resemblance to the long-standing ads featured on Google Maps. Users are also being notified about the introduction of ads through a pop-up message upon launching the Maps app.
Apple Maps may display localized ads based on the user’s approximate location, ongoing search queries, or the area visible on the map during the search. To safeguard user privacy, advertising data remains separate from their Apple Account.
In alignment with their commitment to user privacy, Apple assures that the ads showcased in Maps do not correlate with the user’s Apple Account. Personal information remains on the user’s device, avoiding collection or storage by Apple, and refraining from sharing with external parties.
