Amazon is making its 30-minute “Amazon Now” service available in numerous U.S. cities, aiming to serve millions of customers nationwide by the end of the year.

This service was initially tested in Seattle and Philadelphia, delivering fresh groceries, household essentials, and other items from small neighborhood fulfillment hubs via its Amazon Flex delivery network.

Now, Amazon Now has expanded to cities like Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Philadelphia, and Seattle, with plans to roll out in additional locations such as Austin, Denver, and Phoenix.

CEO Andy Jassy highlighted the importance of Amazon Now in the company’s quest for faster deliveries, including various options like drones and same-day shipping.

Prime members benefit from a $3.99 delivery fee for Amazon Now, while non-Prime customers pay $13.99. Orders under $15 incur an additional small-order fee.

Despite facing competition from other delivery services, Amazon is confident in its ability to consistently deliver within 30 minutes, prioritizing reliability over ultra-fast promises.

Walmart also offers speedy delivery from its existing store network, with CEO John Furner reporting impressive delivery times.

While Amazon has faced challenges with previous delivery services, Amazon Now’s strategy of utilizing dedicated fulfillment hubs sets it apart.

Customers can access Amazon Now through the Amazon shopping app or website, with availability expanding to more cities soon.
