Angle Health Soars to $2.7B Valuation: Y Combinator Insurance Tech Alum Makes Waves in Health Industry
Angle Health Raises $200 Million Series C with $400 Million Tender Offer
In the rapidly evolving startup landscape, Angle Health, a health insurance startup founded in 2019, has defied the norm by securing a substantial $200 million Series C funding round. This funding round, which also includes a $400 million tender offer, values the company at an impressive $2.7 billion. The leading investor in this round is Vitruvian Partners, accompanied by notable participants like Town Hall Ventures, Blumberg Capital, Portage Ventures, PruVen Capital, and Y Combinator. The company has confirmed that the round is expected to conclude by the end of this month.
Revolutionizing Health Insurance for Small Businesses
As a Y Combinator alumnus from the winter 2020 cohort, Angle Health specializes in assisting small businesses in acquiring and managing “level-funded health plans.” These innovative plans offer a middle ground between fully insured and self-funded options. While fully insured plans transfer all risks to the carrier, resulting in higher costs but predictable expenses, self-funded plans require the company to cover all expenses, leading to unpredictable costs. On the other hand, level-funded plans enable businesses to make consistent payments to carriers, providing insurance against unexpected costs and the potential to receive surplus refunds if expenses remain low.
Empowering Small Businesses with Affordable Healthcare Solutions
Angle Health’s unique approach aims to make health insurance more accessible and cost-effective for small businesses. Their AI-powered platform streamlines the process of selecting and managing health plans, seamlessly integrating with payroll and HR systems. Currently serving over 5,000 businesses, Angle Health has achieved profitability while delivering substantial value to its clients.
