Apple Unveils iOS 27 Beta 8 with Groundbreaking Siri AI Upgrade
Apple has recently unveiled the eighth beta version of iOS 27 for developers to test out. This latest beta release is part of Apple’s routine summer beta cycle leading up to the public release scheduled for September. Users enrolled in the Apple Developer Program can access the beta version by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates on their eligible iPhones.
The eighth developer beta version is expected to eventually become the sixth public beta version of iOS 27 before the final version is officially launched in the coming weeks.
iOS 27 marks a significant focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly with the introduction of Siri AI. This updated version of Siri is powered by Apple’s next-generation Apple Intelligence and new Apple Foundation Models. The enhancements to Siri AI include more engaging conversations, personalized context, expanded world knowledge, on-screen awareness, and increased app actions throughout the system.
Moreover, Siri AI on iPhone now features a redesigned visual experience connected to the Dynamic Island, along with a dedicated Siri app for reviewing conversations across various devices. Visual Intelligence has also been integrated into Siri, introducing a new Siri mode within the Camera app and enhancements to Camera Control on iPhone.
Apple Intelligence has been extended to various apps in iOS 27, including Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, and Home. These AI-powered improvements utilize on-device capabilities as well as Private Cloud Compute, as detailed in Apple’s new Foundation Models.
Additionally, iOS 27 introduces several iPhone-specific updates beyond Siri and Apple Intelligence. These include refinements to the Liquid Glass design introduced in the previous year, such as a new Liquid Glass transparency slider for adjusting the appearance of the system UI.
Performance enhancements have also been implemented for app launches, Photos loading, Camera launch in Low Power Mode, AirDrop transfers, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular transitions. Other changes for iPhone users encompass Photos keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, smoother Camera functionality, continuous message sending in Messages, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom EQ for AirPods, new recovery options, simplified Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpaper generation.
As the iOS 27 beta 8 is being installed, any notable changes will be updated accordingly. For a comprehensive overview of all the new features in iOS 27, refer to Apple’s keynote list.
