Apple and Nvidia Collaboration: A New Era in Server Technology

In a surprising turn of events, The Information has reported that Apple is considering re-entering the server market by teaming up with Nvidia. This potential collaboration comes after Apple discontinued its Xserve line back in 2011, leaving the enterprise machine sector to other manufacturers. However, with the increasing demand for computational power in the AI industry, Apple sees an opportunity to leverage its efficient ARM-based M processors. The popularity of its Mac Mini and Mac Studio among AI developers has even caused shortages in supply.

Although the new server product, potentially named Xserve or something else, is not expected to launch until 2029, rumors suggest that it will be powered by either two or four M8 Ultra chips, depending on the model. Apple recently introduced the M6 chip in August, indicating that the M8 line is still in development and a few years away from release.
