Apple’s Strict Guidelines: Crackdown on Nudify AI Apps
Apple Tightens App Store Rules to Prevent Nonconsensual Image Generation
In a recent update, Apple has made it clear that apps that use AI tools to create intimate images of individuals without their consent, known as “nudify” apps, are now strictly prohibited on the App Store. Developers are required to actively prevent and remove any such content to comply with Apple’s content moderation policies.
Furthermore, Apple has emphasized that developers who fail to implement sufficient measures to prevent nonconsensual and sexually explicit content or do not address violations promptly after being notified may face removal from the App Store. The company has also clarified its stance on “bait-and-switch” apps, which are apps that add or modify features, including nudification, after being approved.
Apple has also reinforced its commitment to combating human trafficking and child exploitation by explicitly stating that any apps found to facilitate such activities will be swiftly removed from the App Store and prevented from being distributed through alternative channels.
