Blowing the Budget: Blink’s Buzzer Hits 2K
Introducing Blink’s Latest Innovation: The Wired Doorbell
Blink has unveiled its newest product, the wired version of their popular doorbell. Unlike previous models, this one is wired-only and does not require a Blink Sync Module, although it is compatible with one. The innovative design of the 2K battery doorbell allows for a smaller form factor by eliminating the need for batteries, although this does mean there is no backup power source in case of outages.
Enhanced Features with AI-Powered Video Descriptions
One of the standout features of the new doorbell is the cloud-based AI-powered video descriptions, which are available through Blink’s new AI tiers. Users can opt for the Basic AI subscription for $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year for one device, with a promotional first-year price of $49.99. For those with multiple Blink devices, the Plus AI subscription covers all cameras for $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year (currently discounted to $149.99 for the first year).
Flexible Subscription Options
For users who prefer not to use AI descriptions, Blink still offers standard plans starting at $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year per camera. These plans include 60 days of video cloud storage, on-device person alerts, live view, two-way audio, and motion alerts. Users without a subscription will have access to basic features only.
Local Recording Options
In addition to cloud storage, the doorbell cameras offer the option to record locally to an SD card using the Sync Module XR or to a USB stick using the Sync Module 2.
Update, May 6th: Amazon has confirmed the price of the wired doorbell is $49.99, not $39.99 as originally published in its blog post.
