Aston Martin Recalls Valkyrie Hypercar Due to Brake Issue

Aston Martin has recently announced a recall for its flagship hypercar, the Valkyrie, citing concerns over a critical safety issue. The British luxury car manufacturer is addressing a potential brake-related problem that could pose risks during intense track use.

According to reports, the safety concern is limited to Valkyrie models with the optional track pack. The issue revolves around the brake master cylinder seals, which may deform under specific driving conditions, leading to improper return of brake fluid to the reservoir after releasing the pedal. This malfunction can result in brake dragging, causing rapid heat buildup within the braking system.

Aston Martin has highlighted that in extreme cases, elevated temperatures could lead to components like the carbon-fibre rear brake cooling duct being at risk of ignition. This scenario is specifically linked to aggressive track driving rather than normal road usage.

However, there is a safety mechanism in place for the Valkyrie. The hypercar features a dual diagonal braking system, ensuring that even if one circuit is affected, the other remains operational, allowing the car to come to a controlled stop.

To address the issue comprehensively, Aston Martin will be replacing the affected brake master cylinders with updated ones supplied by Alcon Components. The recall impacts only a small batch of Valkyrie cars produced between late 2023 and late 2024.
