Rumors suggest that this year’s iPhone lineup will deviate from the norm we’ve seen for the past seven years. Instead of introducing four iPhone models simultaneously in September, Apple is expected to focus on updating only the two premium “Pro” flagships — the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max — while also unveiling a much-anticipated foldable iPhone.

The release of the iPhone 18 is not slated until early 2027, likely to coincide with the launch of the iPhone 18e and potentially a new second-generation iPhone Air. This explains the limited information on the iPhone 18 compared to the more concrete details surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro models.

Recent leaks seem to align with the speculations. A screenshot shared by Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station from China’s C3 regulatory database indicates the battery capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, suggesting a significant increase in the latter’s battery size compared to its predecessor.

The leaked information pertains to Apple’s battery suppliers, including capacities for both Chinese and US models. Last year, Apple introduced larger batteries in the eSIM-only models, diverging from the smaller batteries in the models sold in mainland China due to the physical dual-SIM slot. However, this year’s models may bridge that gap, with the Chinese iPhone 18 Pro expected to have a smaller difference in battery size compared to its American counterpart.

The anticipated battery capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro show marginal gains over the previous model, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to receive a significant boost in battery size. Despite these improvements, advancements in Apple’s A-series chips and the potential adoption of the C2 5G modem for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could lead to enhanced power efficiency and battery life.

While the leaked capacity for the iPhone 18 Pro aligns with earlier reports, the substantial increase in battery size for the iPhone 18 Pro Max diverges from previous predictions. It is essential to approach these rumors with caution until official confirmation is provided by Apple.
