If you’re eyeing a new MacBook Pro or Apple TV 4K but find the prices a bit steep, Apple’s Certified Refurbished Store might just have the solution for you. With discounts ranging from 10-15%, it’s a great place to snag a deal, especially now that they’re offering configurations that are no longer available as new.

As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple is currently selling a refurbished 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with a 512 GB SSD for $1,439, which is $160 off its original price. The recent “RAMpocalypse” has led to memory chip shortages, resulting in Apple discontinuing several Mac configurations. This has raised the entry-level price for a MacBook Pro with a 1 TB SSD to $1,999, but not everyone needs that much storage.

Keep in mind that Apple’s refurbished products are limited in quantity and availability, as they are open-box or returned items that have been refurbished for resale. This means they can sell out quickly, so act fast if you spot a good deal. While you may not have as many customization options as with a new purchase, the discounts can be significant.

In addition to the 512 GB M5 MacBook Pro, Apple is also offering discounts on models with larger storage capacities. For example, a 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with nano-texture glass, 2 TB of storage, and 24 GB of RAM is available for $2,419, compared to $2,849 for a new model. For those in need of even more storage, a 16-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 4 TB of storage and 24 GB of RAM is priced at $3,819, down from $4,499 for a new unit.

At the high end, you can splurge on a fully maxed-out 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro with an 8 TB SSD, 128 GB of RAM, and a nano-texture display for $8,629. While the price tag may seem daunting, it’s a significant discount compared to buying the same configuration brand-new.

For those on a tighter budget, Apple’s refurb store also has stock of the Apple TV 4K in both 64 GB and 128 GB configurations for $169 and $209, respectively. These prices help offset the recent price hikes on the Apple TV 4K, making it a more affordable option for entertainment.

When it comes to refurbished products, there’s often a debate about their quality and reliability. However, Apple’s Certified Refurbished products are top-notch, offering the same warranty and AppleCare+ eligibility as new products. They undergo rigorous testing, receive replacement parts if needed, and come with new cables and power adapters. You’d be hard-pressed to find any flaws on an Apple refurbished product.

While some refurbished items may come from trade-ins or warranty replacements, Apple ensures that each product is refurbished to the highest standards. This means you could potentially get a product that is practically brand-new at a discounted price. Apple’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction makes their refurbished products a safe and smart buy.
