Fitbit and Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is a popular health and fitness tracker, but it comes with a hefty price tag. For those looking for a more affordable option, many iPhone users have turned to Fitbit and other wearable health trackers. While these alternatives may not offer the same level of integration with Apple’s health features, Google Health has now bridged that gap with a new two-way sync feature for fitness data.

The latest update to Google Health version 5.05 includes the ability to sync exercise records, sleep data, vitals, steps, and more from Google Health to Apple Health. This means that Fitbit users can now seamlessly share their health data with their iPhone’s Health app.

This update will be especially welcome for Fitbit users who have been using third-party apps to sync their data with Apple Health. While Fitbit initially chose not to integrate with HealthKit back in 2014, Google’s acquisition of the company in 2019 signaled a change in direction. With the rebranding of the Fitbit app to “Google Health” and the introduction of Apple Health integration, Fitbit users now have a more streamlined experience.

Google Health v5.05 also introduces Smart Health Links, allowing users to share their medical records with healthcare providers or family members. However, with the two-way sync with Apple Health, this feature may be less relevant for some users. Overall, the update enhances the user experience and brings Fitbit users closer to the Apple Health ecosystem.

With Google Health’s continued development and integration with Apple Health, Fitbit users can now enjoy a more seamless experience and better access to their health data. The future looks bright for those who prefer the Fitbit wearable but also want to take advantage of Apple’s health features.
